2.0 INDICATIONS FOR MANUAL EVACUATION OF FAECES 2.1 Within this guideline manual evacuation of faeces is indicated in the following patient groups Inpatients with established spinal cord injury who have a bowel management plan Inpatients with other neurological condition and for whom manual evacuation is an established bowel management plan The need for manual evacuation where it is documented in the Medical Notes by middle grade doctor (or above. 3.0 PERSONNEL 3.1 Manual evacuation of faeces maybe carried out by a Registered General Nurse who has received training in the procedure, either in this Trust or can produce evidence of training received in another care setting, and is able to demonstrate competence of the procedure.
